New synthesis method imitates the way molecules were formed at the dawn of life on Earth- Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
Summary: Extracting the D-fructose-6-phosphate aldolase enzyme from E. coli, and combing that with simple structure molecules, chemist have created a way to synthesize molecules "very selectively." Angle and position of an organic molecule is important for how the molecule will work. Not only this but, the combinations of these catalyst compounds represents how early life formed on Earth. On top of this the process is efficient, and leaves no excess.

Importance: Learning about the origins of how carbohydrates combined to eventually initiate life on Earth, and allowing easier creation of pharmaceuticals.

Compare to Brave New World: Unlike the novel, in real life we are able to look back to the past, and observe. With this method we may even be able to view a representation on how life began on Earth, which in the society of the novel was only possible with the knowledge of ectogenesis. Beyond that citizens were stopped from seeing how life was before their era. With this science we can possibly see beyond human civilization. More so we will have better pharmaceuticals that will help with getting rid of disease, and pain. In "Brave New World" they are able to be clean of pathogen to the point of not needing drugs therefore resort to "soma", a drug that takes away mental pain. I believe that this discovery leads humanity in a direction that will allow full potential.
